Brand identity and website design for a small publishing company in northern Canada.

Client:

NORTHERN QUILL PUBLISHING

Northern Quill Publishing is dedicated to sharing, celebrating, and creating space for diverse voices from the Northwest Territories (NWT). As both a publishing company and an online bookstore, they offer a variety of professional services tailored to authors and creators at different stages of their writing and publishing journeys.

Their story:

  • Brand Identity: We created a brand identity that reflects their roots in the North and their valuable role in the northern Canadian literary community.

  • Marketing Tools: We provided a suite of marketing materials to empower them to promote their brand independently while ensuring a consistent and cohesive brand identity.

  • Website Design: We designed a user-friendly website that the Northern Quill Publishing team can manage and maintain independently, without the need for extensive technical knowledge.

We helped them with:

  • The logo incorporates a porcupine, a familiar animal throughout most regions of the Northwest Territories, subtly playing off the business name.

  • The integration of an open book in the negative space of the porcupine shape represents literature and symbolizes the connection between storytelling and the unique voices of the NWT.

  • The colour palette uses earthy tones inspired by NWT landscapes, complemented by vibrant accent colours that evoke creativity, conveying a brand that is warm, inviting and engaging.
